There's seemingly been a serious case of Retro Fever gripping the PHX as of late. In recent weeks, a throng of '70s and '80s superstars have announced upcoming local gigs, including The Who, The Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, and George Thorogood. One such throwback who's also making a stop in the Valley is Devo bassist Jerry Casale, who'll serve as guest DJ at Pretty Vacant! on Friday, December 15, at Anderson's Fifth Estate, 6820 East Fifth Avenue in Scottsdale. Casale, who's been busy lately with a bizarre side project called Jihad Jerry & The Evildoers, will bust out an eclectic mix of indie rock and dance tracks alongside residents William Fucking Reed and Sleazy Sean. The former promises that Casale will also provide some New Wave and '80s stuff, including songs from the band that made him famous. "He'll probably drop a token Devo track or three into the mix and get on the house mic and tell people to 'whip it good,' or something," Reed jokes. Doors open at 9 p.m., and Casale starts at midnight. Admission costs $6 before 11 p.m., and $8 afterward.
