Maybe it's the spirit of diplomacy fostered by the Obama administration, but this has been a big week for intra-Arizona relations (that close game between the nationally ranked ASU Sun Devils and the hated UofA Wildcats may not have helped things). Not only has Calexico -- a Tucson indie band that is probably the most nationally respected indie act in AZ -- announced they're coming to Phoenix for the first time in two years, Mostly Bears (pictured), another act from that city down south has announced a show at Chyro Arts on February 13.
In a show of goodwill, demonstrating a commitment to detente, I've dispatched our most seasoned music writer, Serene Dominic, to do a feature on Golden Boots, a really great alt-country act that's going to SxSW and that is from -- gasp! -- Tucson. I want you to know there is a small chance I may be let go as a result of this bold decision, but I'm doing it anyway. Look for that story in three weeks.
Meanwhile, here are the rest of this week's announcements including New Found Glory, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Asylum Street Spankers and a video for Golden Boots' "Ghosts."
