In movies, the cutting-room floor is usually a cold, dark place where unused footage ends up, never seeing the light of day unless it find its way into a director's cut somewhere down the road.

The same is true when it comes to the music studio, but thanks to the Internet and sites like Bandcamp, you don't have to wait for the special-edition DVD to peep the tracks that didn't quite make the cut.

Phoenix hip-hoppers The Insects are currently in the process of wrapping up their next album and have already narrowed down the tracklist. Titled Black Rose, the album is scheduled to be released later this year on Tempe-based record label 1090 Records. In the meantime, they've posted a free download of six tunes that were left off of the final product.

"While in the process of selecting the dopest tracks for that album, we have these extras that did not make the cut," the group says on Facebook.

Every download also comes with a chance to win a pair of tickets to the seventh annual independent hip-hop festival, Paid Dues, going down this weekend in San Bernardino, Calif.
