Scottsdale Police are seeking a suspected gunman in connection with a shooting that took place at one of the city’s dance clubs over the weekend.

A shot was fired inside Maya Day & Nightclub during the early morning hours of Sunday, October 22, and one person was injured.

According to the Officer Kevin Watts of Scottsdale PD, the incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. at the Scottsdale spot and stemmed from an altercation between two men.

Watts says that one man drew a gun and fired a single round that struck the other in the leg. The shooter then reportedly fled the scene immediately in the mass exodus of patrons from the club that followed.

The victim, who hasn’t been identified, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

None of the other patrons were injured.

Scottsdale PD is currently investigating the shooting, which they say was an isolated incident.

They describe the suspected gunman as an African-American, approximately 6-foot-2 or 6-foot-3 with a medium build. He reportedly has medium-length dreadlocks and was wearing a red shirt and white pants.

Those with any information in connection with the incident are urged to call Scottsdale PD at 480-312-5000.
