M.I.A.'s new record is slated for release this summer, and you can expect that it'll be a bit different from Kala. She said that on her record she'll be singing as well as rapping and that her inspirations were a little less conventional than usual. One song, "I'm Down Like Your Internet Connection," features Filipino Verizon employees singing to her over the phone one day when she was on hold for three hours. She also says that this one was based on more reflection than the last, and she's allowing herself to work out her feelings on politics nad life in a public forum. Bold move. But then, that's why people dig her.
