If you happen to be attending the Miniature Tigers performance tonight at Modified Arts (which we wholeheartedly recommend), you'll probably notice there's been a small change to the indie trio's line-up. Namely, the addition of a new guitarist into the mix.

Darren Robinson, axman for L.A.'s Phantom Planet, has joined Miniature Tigers on temporary basis to help round out its sound for an upcoming nationwide tour with Dear in the Headlights, which runs through March.

Phantom Planet, of course, is best known as the group that created that horribly catchy song "California," (the theme for FOX teen melodrama The O.C.), as well as being the one-time stomping grounds of Rushmore actor Jason Schwartzman. The band's currently on hiatus for the foreseeable future, allowing Robinson the chance to hook up with his friends in Miniature Tigers.

Tonight's gig is his first public performance with the indie group and promises to be a great show. Doors open at 7 p.m. and locals Snake! Snake! Snakes!, Colorstore, and The Loveblisters open the show. Admission is $8. Visit www.psykosteve.com.
