Singer/songwriter John Vesely will bring more than his smoldering emo-boy looks to the Marquee Theatre this weekend. Vesely will be in Tempe with Secondhand Serenade, his acoustic pop-rock solo act, as part of his "Fast Times at Secondhand High" tour. We can't help but wonder whether the tour's moniker will be lost on some of his younger fans, who most likely have never seen or heard of the '80s classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High. According to Vesely's Web site, the handsome California-based musician named his solo project Secondhand Serenade "to distinguish himself from the typical singer/songwriter." Vesely has two albums under his belt — his 2007 debut Awake and 2008's A Twist in My Story. Both discs feature raw vocals and full-bodied melodies. He has also toured with artists such as the Plain White T's, All-American Rejects, and Hawthorne Heights. He praises his supporters in his bio on MySpace and prides himself on keeping a personal connection with fans online and at performances.
