When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? Is this a trick question and are you trying to get me in trouble? Believe it or not, my car radio is always stuck on KUPD -- even though I do stalk what other radio stations are doing. KUPD is like the Google homepage for my car. It's always the first thing you'll see when the car starts.
What's the first album you bought? I believe that was either Michael Jackson's Thriller or Def Leppard's Pyromania. Don't judge me.
What's the first concert you saw? Oh my hell. If it's the first ever concert, I'd have to say it was with my parents when they forced me to go to see Trisha Yearwood at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. But my first "real" concert was Warrant and Poison at the ASU Activity Center. That sounds marginally cooler.
What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? By a longshot: The Foo Fighters. Best show I've ever seen in my entire life. No words can explain how great they are live. I sang the entire concert as myself, not Dave Grohl.
What's the last song played on your music player? "Bloodstained Glass," by Injected.
Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? These days, I live a minimalist lifestyle and don't like a lot of clutter. I just like a cluttered listening device. My final answer is digital. Where's my million dollars?
What's your favorite album? This is always a tough question because I don't have one favorite album. If I were to think of one off the top of my head, I'd have to say it's Alice in Chains' Dirt. There's just something about that album that tells the story of Layne Staley's life at the time of recording. Dirty, raw and filled with lots of personal affliction.
Who is your favorite singer or band? Again, this is a tough one. I've always been a fan of Jerry Cantrell and his vocals. His vocal harmonies are so distinct that he is able to balance a song out with a lot of other vocalists out there. That guy gets it when it comes to vocal harmonies in rock.
What band do you wish was still together? I just had this conversation with someone the other day, and I'd have to say Led Zeppelin. Talk about a band that had the 'it' factor. Dynamic on the stage and in their music.
Does you computer track how many times you've played something -- if so, what's at the top of the list? "Arlandria," by the Foo Fighters. That's such a catchy song.
What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from the past year? This may sound ridiculous, but Walter Wanderly's 1966 album Rain Forest. I listen to that album late at night when I'm surfing the Internet. It helps with the creative process. Swear to God.
What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? Ooo! If they were worldwide, the first one that came to mind was "Let it Loose," by Savage.
Who is your favorite local artist? Whiskey Six. Nice guys with great music, and so much hair, they could donate it 3 times over.
What is your favorite music video? "Sweep the Leg," by No More Kings.
