Valentine's Day Songs That Tell it Like it is
Not everyone is either totally head-over-heels in love or bitter and lonely on Valentine's Day.
1. OutKast, "Hey Ya!"
Andre 3000 and Big Boi speak the truth, both with "If what they say is nothing is forever, then what makes love the exception?" and "Don't want to meet your daddy, just want you in my Caddy." He's just being honest, so go shake it like a Polaroid picture.
2. The Big Pink, "Dominos"
A song for those who fear commitment and heartbreak. Haven't these girls who keep falling in love ever heard of "He's Just Not That Into You"?
3. Best Coast, "Each and Everyday"
Here's the other side to the "Dominos" story told from the point of view of the girl who wishes her cat could talk. He will never fall in love, but she still has feelings for him.
4. Tim Kasher, "There Must be Something I Lost"
A break up song that entertains the idea of having sex with old girlfriends again for the sake of familiarity. Most of the Cursive frontman's honest songs from The Game of Monogamy qualify to be on this list.
5. George Michael, "I Want Your Sex"
...need I say more?
6. Nine Inch Nails, "Closer"
Who would have thought that a song about wanting to fuck someone like an animal would become the band's biggest hit to date? Here's the uncensored NSFW video.
7. The Bloodhound Gang, "The Bad Touch"
Don't just get down like an animal, do it like they do on the Discovery Channel, as this song from Hooray for Boobies instructs. Do it again now!
8. The Lonely Island, "I Just had Sex"
The SNL boys who brought you "I'm on a Boat" and "Jizzed in my Pants" wrote a song about, well, having sex. "Having sex could make a nice man out the meanest." True story.
9. The Strokes, "12:51"
Julian Casablancas wrote this song about the moment just before having sex. Pick up some 40's and have a good time.
10. The Hold Steady, "Sequestered in Memphis"
A tune about the one-night stand you don't want to tell your friends about. "In barlight she looked alright, in daylight she looked desperate. That's alright, I was desperate too."
11. Frank Turner, "Reasons not to be an Idiot"
"Deep down you're just like everybody else." You're not the only person who's ever had their heart broken, so get up, get down, get outside and get over it.
12. Arrah and the Ferns, "Emo Phillips"
Oh em gee, he broke up with me! "You have to let it go and think of all the good things coming," even if you're freaking out about the girl on his Myspace.
13. Cee-Lo Green, "Fuck You"
Did you get dumped by someone who thinks you aren't good enough for them? Sometimes you just need to yell, "fuck you!" You'll feel better.
14. Miniature Tigers, "Like or Like-Like"
Here's a song about being too nervous to approach your crush. You shouldn't watch them undress though, that's how Jon Lovitz got sent to hell in Little Nicky.
