It's time to drop a little science on y'all: According to the eggheads of acoustic science, sound waves tend to travel much more efficiently through water than through air. And the practical upshot of this particular factoid? If you somehow wind up underwater at this weekend's Wet Electric pool party and EDM massive — either after taking a trip down a waterslide or after getting dunked by a friend — you won't miss a single second of all the electronica, club bangers, and remixes being blasted. And believe us, there will be a lot of music to soak up during the all-day festival, which will encompass the entirety of Big Surf, 1500 North McClintock Drive in Tempe, on Saturday, April 26. More than a dozen superstar DJs and EDM artists are scheduled to perform at Wet Electric, including progressive house gurus Morgan Page and Thomas Gold, trance king Dash Berlin, twerk wizards Caked Up, club fiends Manufactured Superstars, crunkstep creator Crizzly, and current EDM wunderkinds The Chainsmokers. Gates open at noon. General admission is $75. And if you've still got some energy left, a second day of Wet Electric swim shenanigans will take place poolside on Sunday, April 27, at Talking Stick Resort, 9800 East Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale.
