Allow me to illustrate my point further. First, let us look at the dates surrounding Yeasayer's Phoenix performance:
04-14 Tucson, AZ - Club Congress 04-15 Phoenix, AZ - Rhythm Room 04-17 San Francisco, CA - The Fillmore 04-19 Portland, OR - Wonder Ballroom
As you can see, the band goes from Phoenix on April 15 to San Francisco on April 17. Now, does anyone know of a certain major city the band just so happens to pass over in those dates? Yes, they skip Los Angeles -- right in the middle of Coachella's just announced dates. Now, I'm not a gambling man, but I will put money on Yeasayer being announced to play Coachella on Friday, April 16. It's simple science right now, and for those that are huge fans of the festival -- yours truly included -- it makes for even greater anticipation for the official Coachella lineup to be announced.
The fine folks over at Stereogum -- including some of us others, ahem -- have gotten their hands on an early copy of Yeasayer's newest album, Odd Blood, and offered, just last night, one of their trademark Premature Evaluations on the effort. I have gathered from other people who have already heard the album that Stereogum's evaluation on the album is pretty spot-on, although some more love for the song "I Remember" should be included -- Chris Keating's vocals on the track are a sledgehammer of sheer delight and provide the song, and album itself, with a vocal range yet unheard of from the singer. That's just the word on the street from what I have heard from my friends, ahem, so far. Also, "ONE" is a better song than they let on. They just need to listen to it more times like yours truly my friends have thus far.
At any rate, the public and other publications will be the final judge of Odd Blood once it officially hits stores this February. Until then, Phoenix will just have to drool over the already tantalizing prospect of seeing the band's legendary live performance this April.
Yeasayer will play the Rhythm Room on Thursday, April 15. Support, as well as any ticket info, has yet to be announced. Want to see a NSFW, mindfuckingly fun video for Yeasayer's newest single? Then, by all means, click here.
