The Arizona Cardinals cut running back Chris "Beanie" Wells on Monday, which tells the world that the quarterback position isn't the only severe problem with the team's roster.

Wells, the Cardinals' number-one pick in the 2009 draft, was injured and injured often during his stint with the team, and his departure doesn't exactly leave the Cardinals with a lengthy highlight reel from the backfield.

That's not to say the Cardinals weren't pathetic at the running-back position with Wells -- the team was last in the NFL in rushing yards last season -- but the remaining RBs on the roster are LaRod Stephens-Howling, William Powell, Alfonso Smith, Ryan Williams, and Javarris James.

James, in his first pro season last year with the Colts, averaged 2.4 yards per carry. He's suspended for the first four games of this year for failing a drug test.

Smith didn't get a single carry last season.

Stephens-Howling will become a free agent at some point today, reports the Arizona Republic.

Williams wrecked his Achilles tendon in the preseason of the 2011 season, and missed the whole year. He managed to make it five games into the 2012 season -- with 2.8 yards per carry -- before blowing out his shoulder, and missing the rest of the season.

Powell gained 216 yards in 59 attempts last year, perhaps making him the Cardinals' number-one running back, at the moment.

There are reports that the Cardinals are interested in Reggie Bush, and as you can imagine, the Cardinals aren't the only team interested in him.

Bush, like Wells, has just one thousand-yard rushing season in his career -- although Bush has a decent amount of receptions -- and has also been plagued by injury in his career.

This is how Cardinals seasons are made, folks.
