ASU Climbs Back to the Bottom, Ranks 17th in Princeton Reviews' Top 20 Party Schools
It appears that Arizona State University students are just drunk enough to somewhat impress the folks at the Princeton Review.
ASU ranked number 17 this year in the publication's list of top party schools in the nation, which is an improvement from last year's ranking of... oh wait, the Sun Devils didn't even make the list last year.
Sandwiched between the en-mass rioting of the University of Maryland at No. 16 and the Hoosiers of Indiana University at No. 18, the Sun Devils were cited for their fraternity and sorority scene, as well as their more than adept marijuana smoking abilities (ASU was also ranked 17th on Princeton Review's "Reefer Madness" poll).
Ohio University, University of Georgia, and the University of Mississippi rounded out the top three spots on the list.
Excluding last year, ASU was a regular bottom feeder of the Princeton Review list, boasting a ranking of 17th in 2008 and 20th in 2009.
And this year is no different.
ASU's low ranking may come as a disappointment to those who saw Playboy Magazine's shining star of approval this past April. The boobies and booze-enraptured publication ranked ASU third on their list of top party schools -- they cited alumni Nick Nolte and ASU student's willingness to run around naked for charity.
Apparently, the Princeton Review holds drunken college students to a higher standard than that of Playboy, so for a higher ranking, ASU needs to step up its crunk game.
We put out a call on Facebook asking ASU students for their take on the less-than-impressive ranking. Here's some of their responses:
"Thats because N9NE Fest 2011 Featuring Lil Jon, Rusko, & The Eye is at UofA."
"ASU parties hard but Wisconsin Badgers party way harder, Arizona State is a dry campus which is pretty crazy for being a party school. What do they base the standards on."
"It's too big of a school not to be in the top, out of 70,000 students, some of them have to want to party."
"Try harder dammit."
