Well, fathers don't always know best. In fact, some are pretty terrible dads. Here is a look at five of the most notorious fathers. Don't think they'll be getting cards today.

Robert Fisher: Did He Butcher His Family?

On April 10, 2001, when firefighters responded to reports of a Scottsdale house fire, investigators made a shocking discovery. Robert Fisher's wife, Mary Fisher, 38, was discovered with her throat slit and a gunshot wound in the back of the head. Their daughter, Britney, 12, and son, Bobby, 10, had their throats slit from ear to ear. Their bodies were so badly burned, they were barely recognizable. All three were found in their beds. Fisher has been on the lam ever since, if he's still alive.

Faleh Almalek Noor Almaleki: 'Honor-Killed' His Muslim Daughter

Faleh Almalek Noor Almaleki was thoroughly assimilated into American culture. She had moved away from her parents in early 2009 (not for the first time) after another blowup over how she was living her life — tight jeans, makeup, boyfriends, modeling photos, and an attitude that screamed independence and self-determination. Was that why her father ran over her with a Jeep in 2009? He was sentenced to 34 years in prison.

David Deal: 10-Year-Old Daughter Was Locked in a Box Overnight in July

Ame Deal was 10 when Phoenix police found her dead. She had been locked in a plastic storage box overnight. It was July 12, 2011. The high temperature the previous day was 100. It was 93 degrees with 31 percent humidity when they opened the box at 9 a.m. Her cousin Samantha Allen's death-penalty trial began in Phoenix last week. Three other relatives are already in prison, including David Deal, who is listed as her father on her birth certificate. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted child abuse.

Chris Simcox: Child Molester

The former Minuteman leader, nativist stalwart, and onetime Republican U.S. Senate candidate was convicted of molesting a 5-year-old playmate of his two daughters. He also had been charged with molesting one of his own daughters, and was alleged to have bribed another little girl with candy to see her genitals. But it was on counts related to the neighbor girl that he was found guilty after a trial, in which he acted as his own attorney. He was sentenced to 19.5 years in prison.

Kansas Lavarnia: Cleaned Up After Son's Death?

Kansas Lavarnia and his wife, Wendy, claimed that their 2-year-old picked up a 9 mm handgun that was on the bed and fired it, striking and killing his 9-year-old brother earlier this year. But police say they are still investigating and that  "significant efforts were made to scrub the house clean and remove evidence while this young boy lay shot and dying." Kansas, a convicted felon, was charged with illegal possession of a gun.
