Former state legislator and corporation commission member Jeff Hatch-Miller has been appointed director of the Arizona Lottery. (Click here for a MS Word version of the news release from Governor Jan Brewer's office). Hatch-Miller replaces Art Macias, who had in the position since 2005.
Hatch-Miller's fortune comes in the wake of former Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano's speedy departure to Washington D.C. -- otherwise, the longtime politician's future would have been far more uncertain. The Scottsdale-ite had been term-limited from the corporation commission and last year failed to secure the Republican nomination for the Congressional race against Democratic incumbent Harry Mitchell.
Now he's back in the game.
