Police today released the sketch of a man sought in connection with the kidnapping and molestation of a 4-year-old girl in Phoenix on Saturday.

The case sounds like the stereotypical parental nightmare: A little girl snatched by a pervert in a public place during daylight hours.

Cops say the girl was taken at about 5:30 p.m. from her apartment complex at 1200 North 44th Street by the suspect, who was driving a late-model, gray, four-door sedan.

After molesting her, the suspect dropped the girl off in the area of 44th Street and Oak. We're thinking what you're thinking -- it could have been worse.

Police described the suspect as a white guy, 25-30 years old, 5-feet-10 to 6-feet tall, with a thin build and blond or light-brown hair. He wore a long-sleeved shirt with a design on the front, and a dark baseball cap with a white front panel.

With luck, cops will catch this low-life as fast as they caught another sex offender in a similar case last Christmas.

People who have info on this crime are asked to call Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.
