Peyton Manning™ Billboards Earn Mattress Company a Cease-and-Desist Letter
Phoenix's R&S Mattress company just wanted to show it was excited about the prospect of free-agent quarterback Peyton Manning coming to play for the Arizona Cardinals.
As you can see in the video above, Manning's marketing company didn't think it was cute.
The company put the first billboard up a few weeks ago, and a couple more went up after that.
Then the mattress company got the cease-and-desist letter from the marketing company, IMG. Chuck Madler -- our local mattress representative above -- doesn't seem to be too crushed about having to take his billboards going down, but he still wants Manning to "sleep here."
The Cardinals are in the "final four" teams with a chance to land Manning, according to ESPN's rumor mill, and the multi-city hysteria won't be over until he signs a contract.
But if we learned anything here today, it's that Manning's repped by the same firm as tennis great Bjorn Borg. Also, putting up a billboard begging a superstar athlete to come to your town may not be the greatest idea.
