An unspectacular bust of a low-level pot dealer in North Phoenix got pretty spectacular after police found a powerful bomb at the house.
Phoenix police were serving a warrant at the home of the alleged weed salesman, 21-year-old Todd Robertson, when officers found the device that bomb technicians said "would 'level' the entire residence," according to court documents obtained by New Times.
The evidence seemed to amount to a measly weed bust at first, as officers recovered two mason jars with marijuana totaling less than two ounces, as well as two digital scales.
Robertson seems to be a pretty good bookkeeper, as police also found lists of clients' names, with amounts owed, amounts "fronted," names of people who traded items other than cash for weed, as well as people who were on "payment plans," according to the documents.
Then, police located guns as well as a "homemade bomb which consisted of a jar containing black powder and round pellets with a fuse inserted in the center," court documents state.
Phoenix PD's bomb squad had to respond to the house -- near 11th Avenue and Union Hills Drive -- to take away the bomb, and it informed officers that the device had the capability to "level" the whole house.
Robertson admitted ownership of the bomb but said he didn't make it.
In addition to all that, police also found "heavy-duty body armor" in Robertson's bedroom.
Robertson was arrested at the house, where he lives with his father, and was booked into jail on charges of marijuana possession for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a felony weapons violation.
