Phoenix Walmart Protesters Hold Black Friday Demonstration
Dozens of protesters joined together for a demonstration outside a Phoenix Walmart store today.
Walmart associates were joined by politicians, clergy, and other supporters in calling for higher pay and an end to alleged retaliation for Walmart workers who speak out.
"Walmart costs the taxpayers in the state of Arizona millions of dollars every year." recently elected Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo. "Why? Because they do not want to provide the benefits or salaries to their employees . . . the hard-working employees who make this business a success."
This is the third year of large protests outside Phoenix-area Walmart stores on Black Friday, organized by Our Walmart and United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW).
Our Walmart and the UFCW have organized several other demonstrations in the Phoenix area at other times, including protests at the Paradise Valley home of Walmart chairman Rob Walton.
Recently elected Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo rallying the crowd.
