Shane Doan, Phoenix Coyotes Captain, Listed as Day-to-Day After Injury Against Detroit Red Wings
When the Phoenix Coyotes hit the ice on Tuesday it may be without team captain Shane Doan.
As we reported this morning, Doan hurt his shoulder in Sunday's playoff game with the Detroit Red Wings.
While chasing the puck into the Detroit zone, Doan tripped over Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard, sending him crashing into the boards, and Doan injured his shoulder in the process.
It was ugly.
The Coyotes won the game, but Doan was forced to sit out its remainder.
Doan has a goal and an assist in the playoffs so far, but his real contribution has been his physical play, which could be affected by a shoulder injury.
Coyotes coach Dave Tippett told reporters today that although Doan's condition has improved since yesterday's collision, it will be a day-to-day decision on whether he will play tomorrow or Friday.
Doan skated with the team today, and Tippett says, after the team's practice tomorrow, he'll have a better idea whether he will play tomorrow night.
