Sheriff's Office Clamps Down on Visitation for Jodi Arias

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is clamping down on visitation for convicted killer Jodi Arias.

Even though MCSO now exclusively offers visitation only by video, Arias has still managed to cause a ruckus.

According to MCSO, they've had to ban 10 people from visiting Arias by video, for reasons ranging from "using cell phones for photographic purposes" to using fake names to get into a video chat with her.

Indeed, photos of Arias posing for the camera can be found on social media. We asked the Sheriff's Office for details of this policy that apparently prevents taking screen-shots of video visitations with inmates, but did not get a response.

"The ten are not only regular visitors to the high profile inmate but are also responsible for assisting Arias in her prolific use of social media," an MCSO press release says.

Arias used to use Twitter through a third party who would write the tweets for her, and would promote a website her supporters use to sell her art.

In addition to banning the people who are taking photos of Arias, others were using fake names, including one convicted felon who used a fake name to register with the video-visitation service.

Plus, according to MCSO, two 15-year-old girls have been chatting with Arias, just because. MCSO apparently told the girls' parents, and they won't be chatting with her anymore.

According to the Sheriff's Office, "Arias has been seen by Jail Intel officials instructing the 15 year olds as to how to get false IDs in order to continue the visits."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has previously banned all media interviews with Arias.

Arpaio's restrictions on Arias won't last for long though -- once she's transferred to a state prison later this year, she'll be out of Arpaio's control.
