Khalil Rushdan witnessed a murder during a drug deal and initially agreed to testify in court. But after receiving death threats from the murder suspect, he decided not to appear at the trial. The prosecutor then charged Rushdan with the murder, using many of his own statements to convict him. The Justice Project freed Rushdan after 15 years in prison on grounds of vindictive prosecution.
