It shouldn't take much for us to convince you that events where you don't have to pay a single penny to participate are awesome. Actually, we think that's about all we need to say. Free events, people. It's what we're all about, and we've got some that everyone from fine art lovers to pop culture fanatics can get excited about.

Artist Lecture: Annie Lopez
If local artists who are also Arizona natives are rare finds, then Annie Lopez is basically a mythical creature. Not only is she an amazingly talented local artist, using vintage photographs and text to challenge stereotypes, she's also a fourth-generation Phoenician. Lopez will be speaking during Free Admission Wednesday as part of the Contemporary Forum and Phoenix Art Museum's Contemporary Artist Lecture series. Hear about Lopez's past and future as an artist in Arizona Wednesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at 1625 North Central Avenue. For more information, visit phxart.org

"Unlabeled"
If you've ever questioned where you are in life or compared who you are to who others want you to be, you're not alone. If no one else, Jose Martinez is right there with you. And he's laying out all his frustrations and confusions with personal identity in his one-man show "Unlabeled" at Brelby Theatre Company, 6835 North 58th Avenue, in Glendale. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page or call 623-282-2781.

Saber Walk
Even though Star Wars fans don't have a cool name like "Trekkies" for Star Trek followers or "Whovians" for Doctor Who lovers, they obviously have done a fine job sticking together and celebrating their beloved fandom regardless. Maybe you and the other attendees could work on coming up with a name during the Saber Walk on Saturday, June 27. This event is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. You'll meet at Westgate Entertainment District, 6751 North Sunset Boulevard, in Glendale at 8:30 p.m., light sabers in tow, and walk with fellow Jedi junkies. Hey, maybe that could be your name. You're welcome. For more, visit the Facebook event
