Children's Book Week

Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe is celebrating the longest running national literacy initiative in the United States with a week of picture book story times, family-friendly fun and teen book signings. Children's Book Week runs May 10 through May 17. For more information on specific events visit Changing Hands' website.

Philip Kerr Book Signing

New York Times bestselling author Philip Kerr will discuss his latest novel, Prayer, on May 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Burton Barr Central Library. He will also sign copies of his books. Admission is free.

Craig Johnson Book Signing

Bestselling author of the Walter Longmire series, Craig Johnson, will sign his latest book on May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Poisoned Pen Bookstore. Admission is free. If you buy Johnson's new book, Any Other Name, you may bring three of your own books to be signed as well. Copies of Any Other Name will be available for $26.95.

Vintage Book Sale

Scottsdale Civic Center Library will host a vintage book sale at its Civic Center branch on May 21 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hunt for rare finds dating from the mid to early 20th century and earlier. Admission is free and no registration is required.

Release Party for Diana Gabaldon's Written In My Heart's Own Blood

The Poisoned Pen Bookstore is hosting a release party to celebrate bestselling author Diana Gabaldon's latest novel, Written In My Heart's Own Blood. The party starts at 6 p.m. in the Arizona Biltmore Resort's Gold Room. Admission is free, and guests will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you buy Gabaldon's book from the Poisoned Pen (available at the signing), you can ask her to sign up to two other books from your own collection. Copies of Written In My Heart's Own Blood will be available for $35.
