When we last put the spotlight on 100 creative forces in Phoenix, it was no secret there were more than 100 individuals who were making waves in the local arts community. So as we count down to our annual Best of Phoenix issue, we're profiling 100 more. Welcome (back) to 100 Creatives
When Josephine Davis isn't at school, hanging out with her friends, or doing normal 11-year-old stuff, she's making comics.
The local artist, known best for her Flufies series, is back with a picture book called Unicorn Pooh, which she describes as a combination of cute and scary. You can pick up her work at MADE and Samurai Comics.
I make art because . . . it allows me to be free and explore whatever I want to explore. Also, my art sometimes makes people smile.
I'm most productive when . . . the computer is off. Drawing is a great escape and sometimes a nice way to get out of all the racket and noise.
My inspiration wall is full of . . . life and my animals. I find humor everywhere. Sometimes I think things are "cute" that most people wouldn't. My drawings and comics reflect it.
I've learned a lot from . . . practicing art. I learned who I am, who I want to be, and what I think about other people.
Good work should always . . . come from inside yourself.
The Phoenix creative scene could use . . . more young people's art and more comics!
The Creatives, so far ... (And while you're here, check out 100 Tastemakers on Chow Bella.)
