The Arizona Women's Theatre Company has supported women playwrights since 2003 and returns this weekend with its annual Pandora Festival -- an opportunity for women writers to showcase their full-length, one-act, or 10-minute creations.

This year, AWTC is adding a twist. The theatre company will host a Pandora Showcase -- two weekends full of select plays from the last four years of the Pandora Festival.

If you've missed out on past festivals, now's the time to catch up. The event will include two showcases over the next two weekends (Nov. 12, 13, 19, and 20). Each showcase will feature seven short (10-minutes or one-act) and sweet, sarcastic, thought-provoking and comical plays by a diverse group of Arizona women writers.

More event info and a showcase breakdown after the jump...

Showcase 1 (November 12 and 13):

A la Carte by Bernadette la Mazza
Director: Joy Strimple
Feeling invisible and taken for granted, two women find ingenuity and confidence over burritos and salsa.

When Aunt Naomi Speaks by Larissa Brewington

Connecting Flights by Devorah Medwin
Director: Susan Gitenstein Assadi

Penelope Fortesque by Myrissa Jeppson
Director: Diedre Kaye
Reality is often stranger than fiction but in Penelope's case fiction is reality and it couldn't be stranger.

Drifting by Kim Porter
Director: Pam Sterling
You'd think being trapped in a life raft at sea might bring an end to this mother and daughter's petty power struggles, but you'd be wrong.

Late by Zari Panosian

How late is too late to say good-bye?

Showcase 2 will be held November 19 and 20. Tickets are $16.50 and can be purchased online or by phone at (480) 994-2787. Friday night performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday shows start at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m..
