If you need a good excuse to wear a fancy outfit this weekend for a great cause, take notes.

Artlink, the local non-profit arts organization behind annual arts events in Phoenix, will host a Silver Gala on Saturday, February 23 at the A.E. England Building in the Civic Space Park to benefit future arts programming throughout Phoenix.

Artlink launched Art Detour 25 years ago with a vision of an event that would bring together local artists and the community through exhibition openings, gallery and studio tours, and activities for art fans in downtown Phoenix.

The annual celebration of local art draws visitors from around the state to see the latest work by hundreds of Phoenix-based artists and art spaces, young and old.

Since its inception, the event has grown, but the mission to connect the artists to the community has remained the same. On March 2 and 3, attendees are encouraged to sign up for free artist- and docent-lead tours through galleries and studios as well as follow self-guided tours and hop on shuttles that circle Downtown, making stops along Roosevelt Row, Grand Avenue, and more.

The Silver Gala will begin at 7 p.m. with a retrospective exhibition on view to the tune of music and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are $60 or $100 for two and can be purchased through the Eventbrite site.

Artists, galleries, and sponsors who sign up to participate in Art Detour will receive two free tickets. Semi-formal to formal attire is encouraged.
