San Francisco mixmaster extraordinaire Lorin Ashton, a.k.a. Bassnectar, has spent the past decade in the Bay Area's underground scene amassing a legion of fans who dig his exotic sonic concoctions, which blend thickly warbling bass lines, spastic techno glitchery, and throbbing breakbeats with generous dollops of funk, hip-hop, and freestyle sounds. And now the shabby-chic San Franciscan who's graced the pages of such mags as URB and BPM, as well as remixing such musical moguls as KRS One, Buckethead, The String Cheese Incident, and Perry Farrell has hit the road and will be making pulses pump and venues jump across the nation, including the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, where he'll visit on Friday, February 12. Local turntablist DJ Element and Pickster Ones Crusher Sound System are also on the bill.
