Like its counterpart at closer-to-home Desert Botanical Garden, Boyce Thompson's annual plant sale features scores upon scores of home-reared arid-land-adapted specimens, including many exotics that even DBG doesn't stock. The downside: You have to pay admission to see all the plants. The upside: You get a beautiful drive out of it, and since you're paying, anyway, we recommend that you take a couple hours to check out this way-cool state park near Superior.
