Cinco de Mayo Chihuahua Races in Chandler On Cinco de Mayo, most folks seem to favor the Cinco de Drinko mantra, but Chandler's annual Chihuahua races offered a family friendly alternative.
The main attraction was the races, where some well-trained pooches obediently raced to the finish line, while others sat in place or confusedly ran in the wrong direction. In spite of how well the Chihuahuas did (or didn't) do, the races drew a large, cheering crowd that didn't seem to mind sitting in direct sunlight too much, though a fight almost broke out between two patrons vying for a spot.

Blues, Bruise, and BBQ at The Westside Sports Complex Hungry patrons braved heat, mud, and even obstacles to attend the all-day Blues, Bruise, and BBQ - Cinco de Mayo Festival at the Westside Sports Complex on Saturday. The event featured a muddy 5K obstacle race, live music, evening martial arts, hot rods, and of course, a plethora of barbecue.
Tented vendors and food trucks dished out fried favorites, craft beers, and every juicy meat imaginable to families, racers, and car enthusiasts alike. Indeed, it was a carnival for carnivores - sorry salad, you weren't invited.
