Turns out fictional serial killer Dexter Morgan's not only a grim reaper but also a bit of a trim reaper. Over the past seven seasons of Showtime's blood-soaked drama Dexter, its anti-hero, portrayed in expert fashion by Emmy-winner Michael C. Hall, has not only engaged in mass amounts of justifiable homicides (current kill count: 125) but has also racked up many notches on his headboard.

Admittedly, the show is mainly about how Dexter offs the deserving and thereby copes with his Dark Passenger's unquenchable thirst for killing, but it also has depicted a slew of sexual situations (it's pay cable doncha know) involving its protagonist and other characters.

Warning: Spoilers follow.

These scenes have not only offered titillation and satisfied Showtime's penchant for sex and nudity, but they've also illustrated Dexter's overall emotional growth from an unemotional knife-wielding robot to more of a human being as the series has progressed.

And maybe its the Freud inside us talking, but such things also get a little bit into the primal nature and occasional interplay of sex and death.

At any rate, since the final 12-episode run of the show debuts this Sunday night and promises much tumult and fallout resulting from the ultra-shocking cliffhanger that capped off last season, we're expecting that viewers probably won't see much in the way of bedroom shenanigans as things build to the end. (Plus, Dexter broke the heart of his most recent paramour after causing her to get locked up.)

So here's a look back at some of most twisted, overly dramatic, or downright kinky sex scenes from the first seven seasons of the program.

6. Dexter Morgan and Lumen Pierce: A Killer Romance In the episodes following the murder of Dexter's wife Rita, the character made more than a few poor choices, including forming a really dysfunctional quasi-relationship/mentor-student bond with Lumen Pierce, Julia Stiles' disturbed character.

Like Dexter, she too had a "Dark Passenger," which was indulged as the pair avenged her brutal rape by helping tracking down and killing her attackers. As expected, they became intimate towards the end of the season, immediately after stabbing one of 'em to death, which we guess happened to be particular turn-on for the character. It's sort of a quiet scene, but speaks volumes about both characters.

5. Debra Morgan and Joey Quinn: The Living Room Getdown Dexter's aint the only one with a checkered love life, as his adopted sister Debra has had more than a her fair share of regrettable trysts, bad relationships, and weird crushes — including realizing she had romantic feelings for her bro.

Then she hooked up with fellow Miami Metro detective at the beginning of the fourth season via this impromptu get down (as seen at the beginning of the glurgy YouTube montage above) after she became overwhelmed with emotion while dealing with Rita's death. As with Debra's other romances, this one was plenty stormy, leading to plenty of workplace drama during her on-and-off affair with Quinn.

At least it was better than when she fell for Rudy Cooper, humble prosthetist, who in truth was Brian Moser (a.k.a. The Ice Truck Killer) during the first season.

4. Dexter and Rita Bennett: The Halloween Hummer When Dexter first debuted back in 2006, the character was very much closed off emotionally and otherwise, including his extreme abhorrence of sex because it seemed too alien a concept. Or as he put it in one episode, "Human bonds lead to messy complications." As such, he specifically dated Rita a recovering sexual assault victim because of her shared feelings on the subject.

Both characters started to evolve in regards to their sexuality as the show went on, starting off with Rita's, um...surprise for Dex on Halloween while dressed as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. It even made UGO's list of "Hottest TV Cosplay" moments.

3. Dexter and Trisha Billings: The Class Reunion Rendezvous Speaking of geek fantasies coming true, when Dexter attended his 20th high school reunion while hunting down a nefarious former classmate in the episode "Those Kinds of Things," he was accosted by another alumnus (played by Kristen Miller) who wanted to repay him for all the times she copied the correct answers from his tests back in the day. The result: getting led into an empty classroom for some hot monkey love.

2. Dexter and Lila West: Burning Love When Dexter encountered this smoldering, raven-haired British lass (played by Jaime Murray) during the second season, it seemed like he finally encountered someone who was fully sympathetic to plight. And, while the sex may have been crazy good after the two became lovers, Lila was just plain crazy.

The erstwhile arsonist proved to be a bloody nutter who was really hung up on Dexter to the degree that she put Overly Attached Girlfriend to shame, including trying to burn Rita's kids alive and attempting to frame Batista for rape in attempts to win him back.

1. Dexter and Hannah McKay: Doin' It on the Kill Table The seventh season of the show was probably the most drama-filled and more twist-filled than any other in the show's entire run — except for the upcoming season, that is — after Debra walks in on her brother offing the latest serial killer he ensnared. What made things even more crazy was after Dexter decided to spare the life of fellow murderer (and five-alarm hottie) Hannah McKay and instead do the deed on his kill table.

It was one of those situations where the audience was howling at their screens for Dexter to make the right decision instead of giving into his temptations, which led to one the show's more twisted sex scenes that involved the protagonist's trademark knife and a bit of S&M-style blade play.

The final season of Dexter premieres this Sunday on Showtime.
