Comic Fest organizers have announced that the popular event has been rescheduled for this afternoon. It will now take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 301 of the Phoenix Convention Center's west building.
The masquerade, which was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday evening at Comic Fest, was postponed after a false alarm prompted an emergency evacuation of the convention center. Several thousand Comic Fest patrons were forced to the leave the venue, which hosts the annual four-day pop-culture and geek event.
This morning, Comic Fest spokesperson Kristin Rowan announced that organizers decided to reschedule the masquerade, which showcases the best costumes and cosplayers at the event.
“One of our most popular events, the masquerade, was interrupted last night, but we are pleased to announce that it will resume today.”
Organizers also announced that a meet-and-greet with comic book creators Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will also be resumed today but haven't released any details.
Phoenix Comic Fest itself, which wraps up today, will go on as originally scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the convention center. There's been no word on whether event hours will be extended due to yesterday's incident (other than the Masquerade).
