Despite what its title portends, author Chuck Palahniuks 1996 countercultural masterpiece Fight Club isnt about burly men engaging in bare-knuckle battles. Those whove read the tripy tome -- or seen the cult film adaptation directed by David Fincher -- can attest to the fact that its more about revolution and anarchy then adrenaline-fueled altercations.
It seems appropriate, then, that Fight Club Sadisco* on Saturday, June 18, wont necessarily be about the amateur brawling that will take place in a makeshift pit built from cardboard and cyclone fencing. The annual fetishistic freakfest, put on by the Sadisco* party crew, is more about industrial music and mayhem than macho males testing their mettle at hand-to-hand combat.
So when the spark-spewing sirens of the Grindwhore troupe or the industrial musicians of HexRx start performing on the outdoor stage at The Firehouse, 1015 North First Street, theyll likely turn more heads than whatever fight might happen to be taking place. Equally attention grabbing will be the spins of DJs Mess & Phetamine, Jodo Kazt, Self.Destrukt, and Plastic Disease.
