So the question is not if you'll be celebrating on December 31, but where. And if you're the sort of party monster who likes letting loose at off-the-radar affairs instead of at a nearby bar or club, you're in luck.
Here are four exclusive or underground events taking place on the final night of 2011.
5. Epic Red Cup Massive:
Last year, the organizers of Warsaw Pact Entertainment held their annual New Year's Eve at the Venue Scottsdale, packing the place with burlesque dancers, sideshow acts, and freaks aplenty. They're dialing things down a bit for the 2011 version and the returning the event to its roots as a mansion party, but the all-night party (which runs from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) should be just as potent as in year's past. 4. Droppin The Ball:
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the longest dance party ever ran in excess of 56 hours. While the New Year's Eve event being planned by folks from Flock Production won't come close to breaking said milestone, it will definitely last well into the wee hours. More than a dozen DJs will perform on two different stages at an unspecified venue somewhere in the Valley sprawl while costumed attendees shake their moneymakers until the sun comes up. 3. Q & Crew's NYE Takeover:
Infamous artist and gadabout Quincy Ross says he's currently planning an "underground event" on New Year's Eve that will actually taking place high above ground. Very high, in fact. Along with his friends and cohorts, Ross will take over the top floor of an unspecified downtown Phoenix hotel. Four interconnected suites boasting hot tubs, palatial balconies, and other amenities will host DJs and other distractions. Special room rates will also be available for attendees and the hotel's ballroom will offer movies and a place to chillax. Shuttles will be available from DJ Sean Watson's party at the Crescent Ballroom. The soiree kicks off at 11 p.m. and Ross promises that "we're not leaving until 3 p.m." Tickets ($20 presale, $25-$30 on the day of the event) tickets will be available soon at downtown galleries and businesses. 2. Intergalactic 2012:
A maelstrom of bright lights and booming beats will pierce the darkened air inside a local warehouse while a throng of ravers wield multicolored glowsticks and illuminated toys and dance up a storm. Performance artists, local bands, and other live entertainment is promised for this clandestine party. The line's certain to be long to get inside, so hit up this website for tickets.
1. Seduction New Year's Eve 2012:
The fetish crowd typically prefer to fly their freak flags high in private, behind closed doors, or at exclusive affairs such as this. Hence, its organizers have rented out the every floor of the posh Hotel Highland on New Year's Eve night. And they're gonna be plenty selective about who gets into the hedonistic event. Those in attendance will witness DJs spinning "sexy sounds," fire-spinners, go-go girls, and shadow box dancers, and a variety of decadance.
