Veteran Valley dancers Liz Casebolt and Carley Conder combine their talents to present Falling & Flying, their choreographic debut, this weekend. The collaboration is a mix of modern dance and performance art comprising three pieces set to a diverse score that includes music from G. Love & Special Sauce, Jacques Brel, The Clash, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Casebolt and Conder are joined by a distinguished cast of 16 dancers from various cutting-edge local dance troupes, a testament to their standing within the Phoenix dance community.
"My work and Liz's work is very athletic, technically challenging, and hard-hitting physically," says Conder. "The subject matter runs the gamut from deeply personal insights to tongue-in-cheek humor to anger and aggression. We enjoy dancing and choreographing full-bodied, visceral movement that speaks to a wide range of audience members."

An alphabetical disorder drives one man to L and back in Philip... With One L, an Across the Line Production debuting Thursday, June 19, at Scottsdale's Kerr Cultural Center, 6110 North Scottsdale Road. The latest work by young Valley playwright Jack Lopez-Turner finds Philip, a dejected 30-something troubled by his name's single L, exploring his emotional boundaries with the help of a psychologist. "Flashdance" gets a whole new meaning in Menopause, the Musical. Jeanie Linders wrote and produced the play about four middle-aged women who meet in Bloomingdale's and discover they have a few things in common, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and murderous cravings for chocolate. The prototypical women -- earth mother, power broker, aging soap star and Iowa housewife -- discuss "The Change" in song and dance to the tunes of '60s and '70s hits. Join audiences nationwide whose moods swing from amused to tearful (with laughter).
