In case you hadn't noticed, the Herberger Theater Center in downtown Phoenix is closed for renovation. Assuming all goes according to plan, the center will reopen sometime around October 1.
And, yes, there will be a celebration. We'll keep on top of that for you (just make sure to keep reading Jackalope Ranch).
The current work is the second and final phase of renovations that voters ok'd funding for back in 2006.
The changes to center include new paint jobs, ADA improvements, carpeting, hand rails, restroom renovations, etc. A new outdoor patio will be installed as well as a second floor lounge off the existing art gallery.
They're also adding a new light installation that will hang from the center rotunda in the lobby. A series of individually suspended glass orbs, each containing LED lights, will probably be the most dramatic feature of the renovation.
Okay, so it's not the sexiest make-over in the world but we're looking forward to the reopening nonetheless.
