The surest sign of success for any art gallery endeavor is being able to spin off and open satellite sites. To date, Art Awakenings, the Roosevelt mainstay, has pioneered eight additional studios around the state, including two in the Valley. Tonight, Kamoni Khems solo exhibition, Welcome Home, decks the walls of Warehouse 1005, the round-the-corner cousin of Art Awakenings. Khems art is very visibly sculpted after graffiti art and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The influences shine through in his use of bold colors and facial features emerging from the purposeful chaos of acrylic paint and oil pastels.
