Over the Weekend

Rock bands, Djs and skirt-chasing 5k runners invaded February's final days.

February ended while the whole word was watching. No, really. They were watching from Margaret T. Hance park where Worldfest 2008, a celebration of Phoenix' sister cities, was underway.

Axis Radius in Scottsdale combined geek with chic in an event called "Battle of Rock Band." This PS3-assisted tournament for the video game Rock Band let club goers rock out with plastic instruments much to the pleasure of the crowds.

The Skirt Chaser 5K hit the ground running on Friday. Congrats to Sally Meyerhoff for pulling out a win in 19 minutes and three seconds.

Saturday night saw an invasion of prehistoric proportions as Diplo (short for Diplodocus) brought down the house with tasty beats.

There were hundreds of butterflies fluttering about Desert Botanical Gardens this weekend.

Coming up:

If you're out and about don't miss the Dropkick Murphys show tonight at The Marquee.

Do you have a frosty mug? Get it ready. This weekend is the Great Arizona Beer Festival.
