Designers and design lovers, mark your calendars because Phoenix Design Week 2013 is officially just a few months away.
From October 18 to 25, Design Week events -- including workshops, training sessions, and parties -- will draw out the region's best designers and bring a lineup of speakers to the Valley. This year, in the Phoenix Design Week Conference will be renamed the Method & Madness conference, a "celebration of the crazy and inspiring beauty of the design process" followed by training and workshops teaching practical approaches.

The schedule for the fifth-annual event isn't yet finalized, but PHXDW will begin on Friday, October 18, with a Creative Mornings session -- the local chapter of the lecture series premiered during last year's Design Week -- and other workshops. On the weekend they'll kick off the Method & Madness conference, consisting of a day of "madness" on Saturday followed by a day of "method" on Sunday.
Thursday will bring PechaKucha Phoenix, a "simple presentation format where presenters show 20 images, each for 20 seconds," before the event closes with Pedalcraft Volume Three.
For those unfamiliar with the cycling-meets-design event, Pedalcraft features bike-themed posters and custom bike racks from local designers. And to help support the local bike scene, proceeds from the event will help fund community projects and bike-related nonprofits.
Registration for the event is already open and the first 100 people to sign up receive an early bird discount. General admission costs $195 a person until August 31, after which the general admission price will increase to $245. Discounts are available for students and AIGA members.
