17 Places to See Fourth of July Fireworks in Metro Phoenix

It's almost time to celebrate the anniversary of the United States gaining independence in 1776. To commemorate, all kinds of big bashes are taking place in metro Phoenix, each one with a variety of things to do. Eating and drinking, bouncing around on inflatables, playing laser tag, ogling classic cars, and watching stunt dogs perform are just a handful of the activities taking place at the many Fourth of July celebrations happening across the Valley on and around the big day.

Mostly though, Independence Day is about the fireworks displays, and there are plenty. Here are 17 places to check out pyrotechnics.

Cave Creek Independence Day Celebration

The Horny Toad in Cave Creek
This shindig will give festive folks an opportunity to view other fireworks spectaculars the next day. The 2017 edition of the annual event is held at the Horny Toad, 6738 East Cave Creek Road, a long-running Cave Creek eatery and music venue that offers a menu loaded with picnic-y favorites, like barbecue, fried chicken, and strawberry shortcake. Light Up the Sky

Maryvale Baseball Park
Another early celebration, this one takes place at Maryvale Baseball Park, 3600 North 51st Avenue, where thousands have gathered for three decades for fireworks and fun. Enjoy live entertainment, an area for kids  activities, community-resource booths, and fun and games on the baseball diamond. Food vendors will be on-site. Admission is free. Arizona Celebration of Freedom

Mesa Amphitheatre/Mesa Convention Center Complex
This event is the self-appointed “coolest” Independence Day celebration in the state at 236 North Center Street in Mesa. The free bash runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and gets festive, with musical performances by Sugar Thieves, Shallow Water, Young Country, and the 108th Army Band. Downtown Tempe has long been a general hub of excitement, and things get cranked up a notch for the holidays. Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 West Rio Salado Parkway, is hosting a celebration starting at 7 p.m. that gets you access to the cultural venue and a great view of the city's colorful fireworks display. Food trucks will be on hand for hungry patrons, and a cash bar will be available. General admission is $15 and gets you access to certain areas of the building. The Kiwanis Club hosts its 66th annual Fourth of July extravaganza. Fireworks are choreographed to music and launched from the Mill Avenue Bridge. The event takes place on July 4 and features live music from Lane Change, Levi Rebel, and Kianna Martinez, to name a few. The Family Fun Fest includes inflatables, rock climbing, and rides for guests of all ages. The food court will have hot dogs, burgers, fry bread, ice cream, and different items from Macayo’s Depot Cantina available for purchase. The Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 North 83rd Avenue, hosts this large fireworks display and several family-friendly activities from 5 to 10 p.m. on July 4. Expect a water zone, eating contests, a cornhole tournament, concession vendors, and live music. Admission is $10 for adults; kids 12 and younger are admitted free. Westgate Fireworks Fest

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to this annual event, which features live music from Club Country and The Instant Classics, as well as DJs, a splash pad for kids, and games and prizes. The night culminates in a large fireworks display at 6751 North Sunset Boulevard in Glendale. Different restaurants at Wesgate will offer grab-and-go dinner specials. Admission and parking are free. The zoo’s yearly celebration gives attendees a rare opportunity to enjoy the facility, at 455 North Galvin Parkway, at night. In addition to special animal encounters, there will be a summer barbecue dinner, live music, a bounce house, and free admission to Stingray Bay. The night wraps with a back-of-the-zoo gathering to get a special view of the Tempe Town Lake fireworks show. Now in its 32nd year, this party at 300 North Indian School Road sees nearly 100,000 attendees annually. The massive bash is a free, family-friendly, non-alcoholic event that includes two stages featuring international recording artists. Plenty of vendors will be on-site, selling items from food to arts and crafts. Kids World features inflatables for bouncing and a water spray zone. There also will be a classic car display. Flock to Tumbleweed Park, 745 East Germann Road, for a night of live music and fireworks. Prior to the big fireworks show, catch music from People Who Can Fly and Blaine Long. Additional activities and attractions include the 18-passenger Lego Trackless Train roll through, or get involved in some laser tag or a Western shooting game. Mesa’s Annual Celebration of Freedom

The Mesa Convention Center is the spot for this annual Independence Day party. Join a giant crowd of patriotic people at 263 North Center Street for the event, which offers fireworks and more. The Yankee Doodle Kids Zone has plenty of fun for the little ones. There’s also the Celebration Splash Zone, a memorial for fallen soldiers, a safety zone, and the Patriot Car Show. Hot dogs and the July Fourth just go together. And at 1933 South Ballpark Way, you can enter a contest to see how many dogs you can down. There will be live music by Groove Merchants and a ticketed inflatables and water slides area that costs $5 for three individual tickets or $10 for a wristband that gets you unlimited rides. Scottsdale’s Fourth of July Celebration

Keep it way cool at this indoor event that spans a 300,000 square-foot, air-conditioned venue in the WestWorld complex, located at 16601 North Pima Road. This celebration has plenty to see and do before the fireworks show begins. Watch a bull-riding show by Mercer Rodeo or a performance by the All-Star Stunt Dogs. There will be a Princess and Superhero meet-and-greet, Stunt Master’s BMX Show, a petting zoo, and a concession area with food and drink. Schnepf Farms is celebrating our nation’s independence with food, fireworks, and fun activities at 24610 South Rittenhouse Road. Food trucks selling such items as burgers, wings, and funnel cakes will be available. Attendee can enjoy slip-and-slides, a rock wall for climbing, as well as a vortex tunnel. DJ Mountain Man Jay will perform on the main stage.
