In April, ASU's School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning will set the stage for local creatives, academics, and urban planners for a week of discussion and brainstorming.
Phoenix Urban Design Week, from April 4 to 13, will include workshops, lectures, a film screening, a community gathering, and celebration of food in a variety of venues in Tempe and downtown Phoenix.

According to Aaron Kimberlin of the School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning, the week will focus on the importance of urban design as a catalyst for economic growth, sustainability, and community empowerment.
"Ultimately, this week's event is for that business owner that wants more foot traffic coming into their store, its for that young professional that wants alternative means of transportation, it's for that citizen that wants positive change to occur in their community through smart planning and good design," says Kimberlin.
The week's schedule includes a walkability workshop by Jeff Speck, author of Walkable City: How Downtown Can Save America, One Step at a Time, a screening of Safwat Saleem and Robert Kilman's Phoenix, City of the Future at FilmBar in downtown Phoenix, The Third Biannual Symposium on Entrepreneurship and the Arts at ASU's Tempe campus, and Feast on the Street (which you can read all about on Chow Bella), to name a few.
Registration is open for the symposium and workshops and can be completed on the PHXUDW website. Ticket prices vary.
