Phoenix may not be oldest city in this state but it's not without its history. Sadly, that history is often torn down to make way for cookie cutter housing developments and stucco strip malls. That's why Preserve Phoenix, a volunteer-led, nonprofit organization that advocates for the preservation of historic buildings in Phoenix, is putting together a plan to keep the city's heritage intact.
But they can't do it alone.

On Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. inside Burton Barr Central Library, Preserve Phoenix will host a free, open to the public meeting, led by the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office and Commission.
The event, which is geared to gather community input on the preservation plan, "Preserve Historic PHX," will feature a short presentation on existing Phoenix historic preservation initiatives and use facilitators to find out what buildings should be preserved, how they should be preserved, and what buildings are the most important and why.
For details, visit the event on on Facebook or contact historic preservation officer Michelle Dodds at [email protected] or by calling 602-262-7468.
