Hayslip is temporarily filling the position formerly held by William H. Banchs, who had worked for the council since January 2008. SCC is a nonprofit contracted by the city to manage Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, and Scottsdale Public Art.

Banchs left the position August 31 to pursue new opportunities in Miami, Florida, where he worked for 17 years as the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts' president

"[Hayslip] has served the Cultural Council in a number of capacities over many years and is a strong advocate and supporter of our organization and our programs," the message notes. "His in-depth knowledge and leadership skills will guide us through the next few months as we seek a permanent CEO."

The council has organized a team to conduct a national search for its next permanent CEO.
