Man, the Tiki gods must be angry at Scottsdale. Earlier this year, the owners of Drift Polynesian Lounge leveled this longtime Tiki hut to make way for their see-and-be-seen party pool, Spanish Fly. And now comes word that Trader Vic's Scottsdale is sailing off into the sunset this Saturday, July 30, following a six year run at the Hotel Valley Ho.

However, in true island style, the Trader is going out with a rum-soaked shindig, including all-day $5 Mai Tais, Bahias, Navy Grogs and Cactus Blooms this Friday and Saturday (4 p.m. to midnight).

Plus, diners who purchase two or more dinner entrees will enjoy a complimentary bottle of hand-selected wine from 5 to 11 p.m. (Just a heads-up, the restaurant will be temporarily closed today.) But why just bring home a hangover when you can score your own share of the Trader's Tiki treasure?

Yes, the owners are planning an online auction to sell off some of the restaurant's kitschy-cool barware, décor and memorabilia.

No date has been set, but they are collecting the names of interested parties who want to be notified when the items go up on Craigslist/eBay. (To get on the list, email Kristen Heggli at [email protected].)

In the meantime, those seeking a fix of palm fronds and frozen tropical tipples will have to head to Phoenix hotspots including Hula's Modern Tiki and the classic dive, Bikini Lounge.

Or you can simply beach your butt bar-side at Citizen Public House in Old Town Scottsdale. Located inside the Valley's original Trader Vic's, the Tiki décor's long gone, but it's still got that swooping Polynesian roof line, as well as a swank circular bar in the middle of the dining room.
