On the fence about whether to take that impromptu road trip up north this weekend? Maybe this will help you make up your mind. The Big Heap Vintage and Handmade Festival is making its seasonal return to Flagstaff on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22, at the Coconino County Fairgrounds.

And we have a feeling this is going to be good.

For those who have attended The Big Heap's other seasonal gatherings in Scottsdale and Tucson, there will be some idea of what to expect from the two-day showcase of salvaged finds. Unlike your everyday garage sale or thrift store experience, The Big Heap is a juried selection of more than 120 different vendors selling everything from the industrial and the handmade to the retro and the modern.

Junk-fiends coming from the Valley may recognize a few familiar faces from Phoenix shops while they're there, including Zinnia's at Melrose, Sweet Salvage, and Urban Restoration.

Admission to The Big Heap Vintage and Handmade Festival is $3 at the door. Children 12 and younger get in free. Organizers recommend that attendees bring cash. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.thebigheap.com.

And for those unable to make it out to Flagstaff this weekend, The Big Heap will return Friday through Saturday, November 21 through 22, at Salt River Fields and Saturday through Sunday, April 11 through 12, at Old Tucson Studios.
