The best thing that’s happened to Peter since he returned from the war is meeting Agnes. Their love story unfolds in playwright Tracy Letts’ Bug, but it’s not the sort of romance one would find on, say, Lifetime Television for Women. This story includes an abusive husband, who follows Agnes to a trashy Oklahoma City motel in hopes of renewing their relationship and beating her up again. And there’s cocaine addiction -- Agnes’ -- and an extramarital affair set in a bug-infested motel room. And a lot of paranoia centered on experiments conducted on Peter during his stay at a Gulf War army hospital.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright’s crafty commentary on the government’s “infestation” of American life plays at Herberger Theater Center. The production closes iTheatre Collaborative’s sixth season.

Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: May 1. Continues through May 16, 2009
