Happy First Friday, fellow Phoenicians. It's September now, which means that in other places it's fall.

Here, however, it's still in the 100s, the the sun's still blazing, and there's no sign of upcoming relief. If your weekend agenda includes lounging and dancing poolside at Relentless Beach or letting out your aggression during Ladies' Night at Shooter's World, it's totally understandable.

After checking out tonight's First Friday art walk here are a few must-sees (and dos) this weekend:

Second Anniversary Party @ Retro Ranch
Vintage shop Retro Ranch celebrates its second birthday tonight with a vintage game show party and Vegas troubadour Jackie Fontaine. Sport your snazziest duds and get ready for some wheel-spinning, booze-swilling fun. As the sign says, swagger on in.

Chance Encounters  @ Practical Art
See John Ryszka II's "Chance Encounters" tonight at Practical Art. The show is an exploration of those small interactions humans have on a daily basis -- whether waiting in line at the grocery store or passing in a hallway. The evening includes live music from Lisa Lemke McKay.

Zog's Tiki Lounge Party 5 @ Rhythm Room
Blues and indie venue Rhythm Room transforms into a tiki-themed paradise on Sunday at 6 p.m. The night boasts live music from local surf rockers Surfside IV, DJs spinning islander jams and grub from food trucks Hey Joe! and Paradise Melts. Tickets are $10.

Garden Day @ Roosevelt Growhouse
Get in touch with nature at the Roosevelt Growhouse's Garden Day on Sunday. Green-thumbed individuals work the community-run garden, planting, harvesting and doing all sorts of urban farmer-y things. Chances are good it'll be another hot, hot day, so be sure to bring along a hat and water.

Labor Day Brews Cruise @ Grimaldi's
Not that you need an excuse to down a few pints and wear a swimsuit all day -- that's totally acceptable hot weather behavior -- but this Sunday's Labor Day Brews Cruise provides the perfect setup to do so.

Starting at Grimaldi's Pizza in Old Town, cyclists convene for a SanTan craft brew at 4 p.m. After downing a pint and wolfing some 'za, the caravan wheels over to Culinary Dropout, then Dos Gringos and finishes at the Valley Ho

Participation in the ride is $20 and includes pizza and a pint of ice cold SanTan at each stop. Call 480-917-8700 for more info.
