ASU's fall semester started this week, and Valley streets near downtown Tempe and Phoenix have repopulated with pedestrians and unyielding traffic to match. But fall promises more than traffic jams and tipsy co-eds.  From sporting skimpy unmentionables in public at Lingerieve 5, to getting your Animal House on at the Sail Inn's Toga Party, there's plenty going on to keep you busy before, after, and even during class.

Six Month Anniversary Party @ FilmBar

FilmBar turns six months old this weekend, and the theater-bar-hangout is throwing itself a no-cover half-birthday party to celebrate. Discombobulator blends live instrumentation with electronic elements in the theater, while DJ Melo spins in the lounge. When you need a break from the dance party, munch on Chi Chi's tacos, free popcorn (with a film ticket), and, of course, cake. Get ready to sing "The Unbirthday Song" tonight starting at 6 p.m.

Splash Pool Party @ The Lexington

The calendar reads August, but the temps still feel like July. Chill out with live local music from Boys & Frogs, Colorstore and Huckleberry, plus live art and DJs all poolside right this Saturday at 7 p.m. Bonus: The Lexington is near the Central and Roosevelt lightrail stop. Admission is $5.

Sweet Salvage Grand Opening @ Sweet Salvage on 7th

Sweet Salvage opens its doors this weekend for its first ever vintage market. Die-hard trinket hunters and casual accessory shoppers can peruse the wares, found around the states and overseas, today through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This free event will repeat, starting every third Thursday, at Sweet Salvage, 4809 North 7th Avenue.

Mount Rushmore Puppet Show @ Trunk Space

Puppeteer, animator and funny man Tommy Cannon portrays Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington in his Mount Rushmore Puppet Show. The show consists of five individual skits that have been performed one by one at the Great Arizona Puppet Theater's Puppet Slams, Space 55's 7 Minutes in Heaven Variety Shows, and other events at Trunk Space, but this is the first time the series has been performed altogether. Catch Cannon's comedic take on the bickering heads of state tonight at 7 p.m. and again at 8:30.

Hello There! House Meet and Greet @ Herb Box

October's inaugural Hello There! House home and garden conference promises to be a DIY diva's dream. Leading up to the two-day event, expo organizers are hosting meet and greets to connect attendees with HT!H teachers and contributors. Tickets are $10 and include a bag of swag. Get your make and take crafting on Saturday at 1 p.m.
