An action-packed First Friday is happening tonight, but it's not the only event worth partaking in this weekend. The grand opening of the new studio space over at Frances is also happening, the usual slate of pool parties are scheduled to transpire, and there's a massive lowrider show over in Guadalupe.

Scandalesque Student Recital @ The Rock:
Although it's taken months of hard work, grueling training sessions, and plenty of practice, the burgeoning burlesque artists of Scandalesque's striptease classes are ready to show their stuff (as well as their goodies) to the world. A half-dozen ecdysiasts-in-training will take to the stage at the CenPho gay bar on Friday night, followed by a special performances by the Scandaleyez all-drag revue and Scandalesque stars Pyra Sutra and Metta Morpheus. Admission to the 21-and-over show, which starts at 8 p.m., is $10.
All-White Party @ Jackson's on Third:
Leave that gorgeous black dress or form-fitting blue jeans in the closet, as the dress code for this off-the-hook hip-hop affair calls for white duds only. Patrons will sporting the finest in neutral fashions as they enjoy $2 Grey Goose cocktails until 11 p.m. and urban hits from DJ Ray J. Ladies sporting the sexiest threads will also win $100 cash prize. Doors open at 9 p.m. and admission is $20.
Bike Night @ Mesa Riverview:
There are more than 2,000 spaces making up the parking lot at Mesa Riverview. And it's likely that most of 'em will be occupied by hawgs and Harleys starting tonight at 5 p.m. as the super-sized East Valley shopping complex becomes a virtual motorcycling Mecca. Hundreds of local bikers will bust out with their leather vests and park their rides on the asphalt before spending the evening partaking in beer specials, live music gigs, and cycle demonstrations.
Arizona Speedcubing Open @ Brown Mackie College:
According to the esteemed Guinness Book of World Records, more than 350 million Rubik's Cube's have been sold across the globe since the color-coded puzzle debuted in 1980. And we're certain that only a tiny fraction of those owners actually solved the effin thing. Rubik's Cube's have challenged many for more than 30 years, flummoxing and frustrating both masterminds and morons alike. Those whose brains and fingers are feeling especially limber, however, can participate in this afternoon-long competition consisting of six different rounds of cube-solving quickness. Doors open at noon, the entry fee is only $1 per round, and those with the fastest times win prizes.
Socrates Cafe @ Practical Art: Speaking of brainteasers, this twice-monthly philosophical discussion session on first and third Sundays is the site of lively debate and discourse amongst local artists and eggheads engaged in intelligent conversation. Oh, and there's free coffee to boot. (What better way to stimulate your noggin?) Previous topics of discussion include whether or not to get involved when witnessing another harming themselves and how art is both necessary and inevitable in society. The gabfest starts at 2 p.m.
