Get excited, golfers, people who hang out with golfers, or date golfers, or, well, you get the idea. Because TopGolf, the driving range meets bar/lounge golf entertainment center, is coming to the Valley. The 12th TopGolf location, called TopGolf at Riverwalk, breaks ground on July 19 and is expected to open by spring 2014.

The three-level facility will have 102 climate-controlled (read: you'll be able to play in the summer without sweating your ass off) hitting bays, each of will be able to accommodate six players at a time.

According to the company though, nearly half of TopGolf players don't actually golf, so you can believe there's plenty to do besides hit balls.

The facility also will offer upscale food and drinks, more than 200 flat-screen TVs and light-up targets on the field. Microchips in the golf balls track each player's shot, giving points for accuracy or luck, and making the driving range experience competitive and social. There will be a variety of driving range games to choose from, all made to appeal to players of varying skill levels. TopGolf centers are family-friendly, but the music (and usually the number of boozers) gets cranked up at night.

To use the facility players need to purchase a TopGolf membership, which starts at $5 for a basic lifetime membership that includes free club rental. Members can then rent the bays by the hour. That ranges in price from $20 to $40 an hour for up to six people depending on the day and time. That price also includes unlimited balls.

TopGolf Riverwalk will be located at 9500 E. Indian Bend Road across the street from Talking Stick Resort. The 13-acre property will be a part of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. For more information, visit the TopGolf at Riverwalk website.
